The Manbij Offensive, 2016

Returning for a moment to our focus on the war in Syria, the various commands of the Syrian Democratic Forces continue their advance in recapturing the town of Manbij on the Syria-Turkey border, slowly grinding down trapped ISIL forces throughout the city, carving the town into pockets:

The offensive, which got underway in earnest on 31 July, 2016, crossing the historic Euphrates River, near the town of Sarrin, liberated last year, has led to the spectacle of liberated women burning hated burkas in the streets.

Meanwhile, ISIL forces try to hang on, as the terrorists try to use snipers and VBIEDs.
